China sack Camacho

The Chinese Football Association (CFA) have confirmed that Jose Antonio Camacho has been sacked from his position with the national team.

Former Spain and Real Madrid Coach Camacho had been in charge of the Chinese national side since August 2011, but had come under scrutiny in recent months for a series of defeats culminating last week in a 5-1 thrashing at home to Thailand.

On from protests aimed at Camacho, the CFA have confirmed less than a month ahead of the East Asian Cup that the 58-year-old Spaniard has been removed from his post.

“The Chinese football authorities officially announce that Camacho has been released from his coaching job,” read a brief statement published today.

It is believed that Camacho and the CFA are in dispute over compensation due to the Coach, with the parties split as either €5.5m and €3m.
