Eliseu seeks Malaga exit

Malaga left-back Eliseu says he is looking for a way out of the Costa del Sol club and would like a return to Portugal.

The 29-year-old has had two spells at La Rosaleda since signing from Belenenses in 2007 and feels that Manuel Pellegrini’s departure from the bench has possibly paved the way for him to leave.

Having made it known on several occasions he would like to play again in his native country, Eliseu now feels that the time is right.

“Everybody knows I would like to play for Benfica, one of Portugal’s greatest clubs, and I’d love to go back.

“I’ve been away from home a long time, not only from [his birthplace] the Azores but also from Portugal. The sooner I can return the better,” he told Antena 1.

At the same time, he acknowledged that circumstances at Malaga had changed.

“The main obstacle to my leaving was the Coach, Manuel Pellegrini. Now that he is no longer here things are different and we’ll see what happens.

“I have to speak to the club in the next few days to see what they decide,” he added.
