Ballesteros offered role at Levante

Sergio Ballesteros has been told his playing days at Levante are over, although he has been offered a fresh role at the club.

The 37-year-old [pictured, right] who joined the Valencia-based outfit from Real Mallorca in 2008, was informed of the decision on Thursday night by President Quico Catalan and director of football Manolo Salvador.

However, the former Tenerife, Rayo Vallecano and Villarreal defender is understood to have been offered a position behind the scenes, a proposal he must answer within the next few days, reports AS.

The decision to jettison Ballesteros from new boss Joaquin Caparros’ squad comes just days after Los Granotes told midfielder Juanlu he no longer had a future at the Ciutat de Valencia.
