Marcelo Bielsa is set for a return to South American soil to continue his career, as the former Athletic Bilbao boss has an offer from Santos.
Bielsa has been confirmed by Athletic as not renewing his contract at San Mames beyond its expiry at the end of this month, following on from a difficult second season with the team.
The Basque Country outfit followed up 2011-12’s runs to the Europa League and Copa del Rey Finals with a miserable League campaign in 2012-13 and an early group stage exit from the Europa League.
Bielsa, who led the team to a 12th place finish, is now reportedly set for a stint in Brazilian football.
The Argentine has flown out to the country to apparently begin negotiations on a four-year contract, with a view to taking over from January 2014.
