Madrid to offer Ronaldo €166m

Real Madrid’s contract renewal package designed for Cristiano Ronaldo will reportedly cost a total of €166m.

Amid continued reports of interest from other clubs looking to take advantage of the Portuguese’ alleged discontent, Florentino Perez has publicly claimed that the player wants to sign on at the Santiago Bernabeu.

AS understand that a new contract is being drawn up and that it will look to hand Ronaldo the highest wage in the game.

Looking to sign the 28-year-old up until June 2018, adding three years to his current contract, Madrid are reportedly prepared to offer an annual salary of €20m, after tax.

That is the figure Ronaldo, who has scored 201 goals in 199 games for Madrid, has reportedly asked for and that the club are willing to put forward.

The striker’s current wage is taxed at 24 per cent, under the ‘Beckham Law’, but his renewal will be billed at 52 per cent.

With that increase taken into account, AS believe that the total spend for Madrid to renew with Ronaldo at that wage hike comes to €166m.
