Cavani unsure of Madrid move

Edinson Cavani has opened up speculation over his future at Napoli further today, but has suggested that a move to Real Madrid may not be on the cards.

The Uruguayan has been increasingly linked with a move out of the Stadio San Paolo this summer, with Madrid said to be one of a number of clubs interested.

However, the 26-year-old, who finished top scorer in Serie A last term, has suggested that whilst he is talking with other clubs, Los Merengues may not be up for consideration.

“I have a contract with Napoli, but, at the same time, I am talking to other clubs,” Cavani told reporters from Uruguay’s training camp today.

“Things are a bit uncertain at this point in time. I still belong to Napoli because nobody knows anything official about my future yet.

“I’m concentrating on the World Cup qualifiers and the Confederations Cup with Uruguay now, then I’ll think about my future.

“Chelsea? I don’t know if they have have made an offer for me. I just know that being trained by people such as [Manchester City’s] Manuel Pellegrini or Jose Mourinho, who are being mentioned right now, would be a pleasure.

“Real Madrid? I don’t know if Spanish football would be the best for me. La Liga is marvellous, there is plenty of space for the attacker, but I don’t know where I will go.

“I’m calm because I have dealt with these kind of rumours which say that I have signed for other clubs when I haven’t.

“I’m keeping my feet on the ground, I’m happy and tranquil. We’ll just have to see what happens.”
