PSG: Madrid should call us

Paris Saint-Germain say Real Madrid should call them if they are considering making Carlo Ancelotti their new boss.

A report in AS claims the French club are surprised at Madrid President Florentino Perez’s recent declarations that Ancelotti is favourite to occupy the bench at the Santiago Bernabeu.

It maintains that sources close to PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi have revealed that there has still been no formal offer from Los Blancos for the Italian, quoting one of them as saying ‘If Madrid want Ancelotti then they will have to call and make us an offer’.

The French champions have no money problems but are believed to be holding out for compensation if Ancelotti gets his reported wish of a move to the Spanish capital, a figure that could reach the €7.5m rescission clause in his contract.

In Madrid’s case, they are hoping PSG might yield to the pressure of Ancelotti’s desire to leave his current employers as it would not be feasible to retain a Coach against his will.

Nonetheless, Al-Khelaifi is determined to stick to his guns and the Spanish outfit could face a long and protracted battle if they are to land their man.
