Manzano out, Paco Herrera in?

Lorenc Serra Ferrer has confirmed that Gregorio Manzano has left Mallorca by mutual consent and that Paco Herrera could replace him.

Manzano returned to the island outfit on a short term deal until the summer to try and see that the team avoid relegation.

However, with that objective not met, acting President, leading shareholder and sporting director Serra Ferrer has confirmed that he has left: “by mutual consent, because we want a new project.

“Recognising his capacity and experience as a trainer, we wanted someone who knew the Segunda Division and was able to convey hope and strength to the new project,” explained Serra Ferrer.

The club are strongly linked with former Celta Vigo Coach Paco Herrera.

“I have known Paco for many years, he knows the Division, has a magnificent character, is discreet, hardworking, serious and very involved with the staff.

“The club’s debt? We are economically viable. When I arrived here three years ago the debt amounted to €78m. Today that figure has been reduced to about €30m.

“I have not taken a euro in the last three years and I assume my responsibility as a shareholder, Mallorca fan and technical director, but I consider myself able to run and lead a club like Mallorca.”
