Djukic: Happy to be home

Miroslav Djukic is all but Valencia’s new Coach and has enthused today on the responsibility and excitement he feels in returning to Mestalla.

The former centre-back has left his post at Real Valladolid after two years with the Castillians to take over at former playing side Valencia.

Touching down in the city today accompanied by sporting director Braulio Vazquez today, the 47-year-old is expected to finalise terms on a two-year contract before being officially presented to the media tomorrow.

“I am happy to return home to my club, and I hope to meet all the expectations that the club has placed on me,” Djukic told reporters at the airport on Tuesday.

“I’m very happy with the team I have, there is work ahead, which is great, because we are ready to meet the objectives of the club.

“It is fulfilling a dream to become the Coach of a big team like Valencia, whilst it is also a great responsibility  for what is required.

“But I am ready and relaxed because we want to do great things and are ready to work for them.”
