Levante to release JIM?

Reports are that whilst a contract agreement with Juan Ignacio Martinez was thought close, Levante’s board may decide today to release him.

The Coach is out of contract after two years at Los Granotes, which has included last year’s best League finish in the club’s history and ensured for this term a first campaign in European football.

However, following on from the second half of 2012-13’s remarkable dip in form and rumours of discontent between senior members of the dressing room and the Coach, speculation has been that the club may not hand him an extension.

Whilst recent reports indicated that sporting director Manolo Salvador was keen on a new deal for Martinez, today it is seen that the board are meeting to vote on the tactician’s future and will vote to not renew his deal.

Whilst Martinez is understood to be a prime candidate to replace Miroslav Djukic at Real Valladolid, Levante are reportedly turning to Joaquin Caparros or Maccabi Tel Aviv’s recently departed Coach Oscar Garcia.
