Palop off to Leverkusen

Sevilla goalkeeper Andres Palop has agreed a two-year deal with Bayer Leverkusen, reports AS.

Palop, who will turn 40 in October, said goodbye to Los Nervionenses at the weekend after eight years at the Sanchez Pizjuan and was originally believed to have a verbal agreement to return to former club Valencia.

However, the resignation of President Manuel Llorente and the political instability surrounding Los Che that outgoing boss Ernesto Valverde referred to after the 4-3 defeat at Sevilla on Saturday has forced Palop to have a rethink.

As a result, he has decided to accept the offer from the Bundesliga, believing he can still perform at the highest level after becoming the most successful goalkeeper in Sevilla’s history.

In his time with the Andalusians he won two UEFA Cups, two Copa del Reys, one European Super Cup and one Supercopa de Espana.
