Diego Simeone earned a round of applause from reporters, as he declined comment after Atletico Madrid’s win at Real Zaragoza.
Atleti’s three late goals countered Helder Postiga’s equaliser to settle Week 38’s match at La Romareda 3-1 and relegate Los Blanquillos to the Segunda Division.
“We have come here [to the post-game Press conference] out of obligation,” reflected Simeone after the result.
“Today is not the most appropriate day for me to speak, so, excuse me.
“It has been a great year for the team, but this is not the right time.”
