Combined with Deportivo’s defeat at home to Real Sociedad, it has seen Celta leapfrog their Galician rivals into 17th place.

Depor drop down to the Segunda Division thanks to Antoine Griezmann’s first-half strike at Riazor settled matters.

Meanwhile, Mallorca defeated Real Valladolid 4-2 at home, but needed all three relegation rivals to lose to have any hope of survival, so they also drop down. Gregorio Manzano’s men finish 18th, above Depor.
