Zaragoza taking legal action

The last two days have seen Real Zaragoza announce that they will take legal action against two publications for recent articles run.

Marca this week published, as part of a series on the issue of match fixing, an article that carried quotes from several unnamed sources implicating Zaragoza President Agapito Iglesias as having looked to fix games.

On from that, Aragonese publication El Periodico Aragon ran an article by former Zaragoza player Jesus Garcia Sanjuan that was highly critical of Iglesias’ work, calling for his removal from office.

Both publications have now had legal action started against them by the club, in separate lawsuits filed for ‘expressions that are slanderous or alternatively libelous’.
