Sevilla goalkeeper Andres Palop will this weekend wave goodbye to fans after eight years at the Sanchez Pizjuan.
The 39-year-old, signed from Valencia in 2005, has not been offered a new contract by the Andalusians and from June 30 will be a free agent.
However, it is unlikely Palop will be given the opportunity to don the gloves for the last time against Valencia on Saturday, given Sevilla still have an outside chance of making the Europa League and boss Unai Emery is likely to stick with first choice Beto.
Palop came close to leaving Los Nervionenses last summer, but even though he was advised to seek another club he decided to see out his contract at the club and has played a total of 18 League and Cup games this season, conceding 21 goals.
Born in L’Alcudia in the province of Valencia, Palop will leave having become the most successful ‘keeper in Sevilla’s history, winning two UEFA Cups, two Copa del Reys, one European Super Cup and one Supercopa de Espana.
His most famous moment came on March 15, 2007 when he made headlines by scoring an injury-time equaliser in a Last 16 UEFA Cup tie against Shakhtar Donetsk, forcing extra time and allowing Sevilla to eventually go on and win the competition.
