Barca deny higher Neymar bid

Barcelona officials have reportedly denied reports that they have upped their latest bid for Santos’ Neymar to €25m.

Santos rejected Barca’s last known offer of between €20m and €22m earlier this week, reportedly pushing for a total valuation on the player of €50m, putting the price of their 55 per cent share in the player at €27.5m.

Reports then indicated that the Catalans, who have been in negotiations since last week trying to resolve a summer transfer for the 21-year-old, had increased their offer to €25m.

However, AS report that sources at the Camp Nou have informed them that the €22m offer remains satisfactory and that they are unwilling to be pushed into paying more.

Santos are believed now to be intent on keeping hold of Neymar until the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Reports in Brazil suggest that their ambition to also raise more cash in the player’s sale hinges on Real Madrid coming in with a bid.

Los Blancos are thought likely to have to pay a penalty clause too, however, to Barcelona, for breaking a reported pre-contract agreement they have in place with Neymar.
