Atletico Madrid played out a 2-0 friendly win against a Singapore select XI on Wednesday afternoon, the first Peter Lim Charity Cup.
Atleti have spent the week so far in Singapore on a promotional exercise following on from last Friday’s Copa del Rey win against Real Madrid.
Following on from yesterday’s training workshop with over 100 local schoolchildren, Diego Simeone’s side lined up on Wednesday afternoon UK time at the Jalan Besar Stadium against a select XI of Singapore players.
Goals from Raul Garcia and Diego Costa gave the visitors the win, but it was far from the comfortable outing the Spanish expected, with their opponents creating a number of chances in the game themselves.
The win sees Atleti pick up the first Peter Lim Charity Cup, a charity event match named after the Singapore billionaire said to be considering investing in the club.
