‘We will respect Ancelotti’s contract’

Paris Saint-Germain President Nasser Al-Khelaifi has indicated a belief that Real Madrid Coach Carlo Ancelotti will stay at the club next season.

Ancelotti met with Al-Khelaifi and sporting director Leonardo on Sunday evening, where he confirmed to reporters afterwards that he requested leaving the Parisians, with Real Madrid believed to be his intended destination.

A report from beIN Sport, the network of sports channels owned by PSG’s majority shareholders Qatar Sports Investments, were yesterday running the line that Ancelotti will be leaving, but Al-Khelaifi has reflected otherwise.

“It will cost us what it will cost us, but we will honour our contract,” the club President responded in the media on Monday.

“Madrid came and I discussed it with them. He's got a contract with us for one more year…for me, he's here next year.

“As I have said, he has a one year contract with us. I was asked in March to extend his contract, but since then Real Madrid have arrived.

“I really believe that there is a pre-contract with Madrid. I do not think that Madrid would venture to sign a contract with Carlo, yet, though. If they do, there will be a legal problem.”
