Barca to renew Rafinha

Barcelona are understood to be keen to hand Rafinha Alcantara a new four-year contract, with a condition of a season loan away.

The 20-year-old brother of Thiago Alcantara currently has a deal to run until June 2014, but Mundo Deportivo say that Barca are in talks to extend that to June 2017.

Whilst the player has indicated that an agreement is not so close, reports are that the club are targeting his renewal next, having closed out talks for Gerard Deulofeu and Sergi Gomez this week.

The club are pushing for a condition in the agreement that the attacking midfielder spend a season away from the Camp Nou on loan at ‘a top European club’, either in Spain or Europe, to gain experience before attempting to break into the first team at Barca.

The Catalans are believed keen to have their Barcelona B graduates gain more first team experience than the likes of Marc Bartra, Martin Montoya and in particular Jonathan dos Santos have not managed staying with the club.
