Messi out for two-three weeks

Lionel Messi has been confirmed by Barcelona as having suffered a hamstring strain that will keep him out of action for two to three weeks.

The Argentine came off midway through the second half of his team’s 2-1 win at Atletico Madrid on Sunday evening with the suspicion of having re-injured his right hamstring.

Tests carried out on the player have today been confirmed by Barca as showing a strain in his right hamstring.

The injury is expected by the club to keep him out of action for the next two to three weeks, possibly ending his season, with his availability for upcoming games to be determined by the injury’s evolution.

Messi originally tore the muscle during Barca’s Champions League Last 16 first leg against Paris Saint-Germain at the start of April, and has been in and out of the team since, in trying to recover full fitness.
