No Madrid conference today

Real Madrid have cancelled Friday’s pre-game Press conference, reportedly in the hope to avoid further controversy being drummed up.

Jose Mourinho’s recent outings have escalated the situation between himself and Iker Casillas, with the Coach hitting out at his last conference at Pepe and Andres Iniesta too.

The Portuguese has also, in his recent words, encouraged speculation around his future at the club to continue.

Club officials have taken the move to cancel Friday’s usual pre-game Press conference ahead of the team’s trip to Espanyol on Saturday, apparently out of fear that any conference held could worsen the off-field climate ahead of next Friday's Copa del Rey Final with Atletico Madrid.

The Spanish Football League do not oblige clubs to hold Press conferences and AS report that this is not the first time that Los Blancos have taken this step in recent seasons.
