Sponsors fund Atleti’s Suarez bid?

Atletico Madrid’s sponsorship deal with the Republic of Azerbaijan may play a key role in funding a summer move for Liverpool’s Luis Suarez.

The Uruguayan forward is once more speculated as a transfer target for a number of clubs this summer, but The Daily Mirror suggest that Atleti have the advantage.

With Radamel Falcao expected to leave for a substantial fee, the capital club are speculated as having as much as €40m to invest in the summer and fund any transfer for Suarez.

The club apparently see the Liverpool forward as an ideal replacement and will reportedly turn to their sponsors for assistance in funding any contract offer made.

Atleti will allegedly ask for €6m a year from the Republic of Azerbaijan, who they signed a sponsorship deal with in December, to help pay Suarez’ wages, in a bid to financially tempt him away from Liverpool.
