Galliani: No Puyol deal, but…

Adriano Galliani has played down speculation linking Milan with Barcelona’s Carles Puyol, but says that informal talks for others have been held.

Puyol was linked this week with a surprise exit from Barca, with the Italians apparently having lined up a move for the summer.

However, following on from the player’s denial, Milan’s Vice-President has also made clear the situation.

“Carles is a good friend of Milan, we know of his love for our colours after those of Barca, but I must point out that our plans now are not involve signing players that are veterans,” Galliani told Mundo Deportivo today.

“While recognising the value of Puyol, he is not young. That is our philosophy for the coming season and beyond.

“There is no feasible operation because Puyol, from what I know, in addition to his existing contract, is not planning to leave Barca.

“Would we consider an offer? I do not like discussing hypotheses. Carles Puyol, again, is a very dear man to the Rossoneri, but everything else is Fantacalcio.”

However, Galliani was more open to possible moves for other unnamed Barca players. The Italians have been linked with Cesc Fabregas recently.

“Barca have very interesting young players to us, if they come on the market. In fact, both companies have spoken about it informally because Barca and Milan maintain excellent relations.”
