Carles Puyol’s media silence in recent months is being interpreted as part of a general unhappiness at Barcelona that could see him leave in the summer.
The veteran centre-back is speculated by Sport today as being unhappy at the club and seriously considering leaving at the end of the season.
Puyol, who signed a contract extension until June 2016 only in January, underwent corrective knee surgery in mid-March and has since been described, say Sport, as ‘much more secretive than before’.
The 35-year-old’s unhappiness reportedly stems from a discontent at his treatment by technical staff since making efforts to return before schedule from multiple injuries sustained in recent months.
Specifically, this is linked to his being benched for the Champions League Last 16 second leg tie against Milan, which he allegedly saw as unfair.
