Tello happy for fans’ faith

Cristian Tello has reflected on his season so far and admitted that he is honoured by the calls from Barcelona fans to see him play more often.

The 21-year-old has started 11 times in La Liga this season, whilst combined with eight substitute appearances, he has managed seven goals and four assists.

“It is an honour for me that people want me to play,” commented Tello to Barcelona’s in-house television channel today.

“That I didn’t play against Bayern? Those are the Coach’s decisions, I can’t comment on that. I felt bad not to be picked in the squad for such a big game, but I’ll carry on working just as hard.

“My season has been very good. You always want to play every possible minute, but I’m happy with the time I have had.”

The winger managed 90 minutes in Sunday evening’s 4-2 win against Betis.

“I felt very comfortable and the team helped me a lot. I think they know how fast I am and how I’m always available.

“That is what I’ve asked of the Coach and the team know that if they can’t find a way through the middle, they always have me out on the wing.

“Messi’s influence on the team? He couldn’t play in the Champions League and was a major loss. The team played very well without him, but you can tell when he’s on. If the best player plays, it shows.”
