Malaga Coach Manuel Pellegrini’s agent has been reported as in Madrid meeting with Manchester City’s sporting director Txiki Begiristain.
Speculation has been in recent weeks that Pellegrini could be set to leave the Anchovies in the summer, with Chelsea and City both rumoured to be possible destinations for the Chilean.
Reports in Spain on Monday evening suggest that City have taken the lead, with their sporting director Begiristain apparently spotted in the Spanish capital with Pellegrini’s agent Jesus Martinez.
Begiristain is known to be an admirer of Pellegrini’s from when he reportedly tried to sign the then Villarreal Coach when he was acting as Barcelona’s sporting director.
Pellegrini, who took Malaga to the Champions League quarter-finals in their competition debut this season, is understood to have a buyout clause in his contract of €4m.
