Swansea and Fiorentina are both seemingly out of the bidding race for Sevilla’s Alvaro Negredo due to his asking price.
Reports this week have suggested that whilst La Viola and Napoli were lining up bids from Italy for the €18m-rated striker, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Swansea had all also been scouting him.
This led to stories in Britain today suggesting that the Welsh outfit were lining up a £13m bid for Negredo, in the same week that the club’s Coach Michael Laudrip had indicated he was looking for a striker.
However, in talking to reporters today, Laudrup has suggested that the search may not end with a move for Negredo,
“I don't think it's possible because I know there are other teams who want him,” the former Barcelona man reflected.
“I think we're talking double figures in terms of millions of pounds, so I don't think we can (sign him).
“It’s out of our league. We cannot pay £10m, £12m or £14m.”
This has been matched by quotes emanating from one of Negredo’s agent, suggesting that Fiorentina are also priced out of the process.
“It is difficult because Sevilla are asking for no less than €15m,” Alejandro Camano told reporters in Italy.
“The directors at Fiorentina have not only not discussed Negredo, but they are not usually interest in players at the very top, as is the case with Negredo.”
