Inter President Massimo Moratti has dismissed speculation suggesting they and Barcelona were prepared to swap Samir Handanovic and Alexis Sanchez.
Reports in Italy this week have suggested that Barca are interested in the Slovenian shot-stopper as a possible replacement for Victor Valdes and that they would be prepared to negotiate a swap deal involving Alexis Sanchez.
However, Moratti has dismissed the claims and even suggested that other speculation linking Inter with a bid for Alexis may be wide of the mark.
“I’m not aware of any offer from Barcelona,” the President commented to the Corriere dello Sport today.
“Handanovic is a pillar of this club and we’ll look to keep him.
“Alexis? He’s an excellent player, but he’d be hard to sign. And, anyhow, others make the difference.
“The construction of the team is fundamental for us, to have a defence that doesn’t concede goals because we’ve always had scorers up front.”
