Diego Costa appeal successful

Atletico Madrid’s appeal over Diego Costa’s booking picked up against Sevilla last weekend has been ruled successful today.

The Spanish Football Federation’s Competition Committee have confirmed that they have rescinded the Brazilian striker’s yellow card picked up for a coming together with Geoffrey Kondogbia.

The capital club had appealed the decision on the grounds that the challenge and subsequent contact was ‘non-existent’ and the Competition Committee have agreed.

The yellow card has now been rescinded, meaning that Costa’s automatic suspension for accumulated bookings through the season is not yet activated, making him available for next weekend’s Madrid derby at home to Real Madrid.
