Atletico Madrid are going to appeal Diego Costa’s booking yesterday in an attempt to have him available for next weekend’s derby with Real Madrid.
The Brazilian picked up a booking for a foul on Geoffrey Kondogbia during yesterday’s League match to automatically earn a one-game suspension for accumulated yellow cards.
With this ruling him out of the team’s next game at home to Madrid, Atleti officials are reportedly launching an appeal on the grounds that the yellow card awarded was not warranted.
Los Colchoneros apparently see Costa’s foul on Kondogbia as non-existent, with no contact made, and therefore not worthy of a booking.
