Juanfran Torres is looking forward to Atletico Madrid’s season finale and is eager that the team make the most of it.
Atleti head in the final seven games of the League campaign with third place all but assured and still in with a shout of overtaking city rivals Real Madrid for second. There is also the prospect of May’s Copa del Rey Final against Madrid.
‘It's an exciting season finale. We have to play some very big games and everything will depend on how we do,” commented Juanfran to reporters this week.
“It is where we will see if our season has been good, very good or great. Hopefully it is fantastic. We’re giving everything to finish seconds, to win the Cup final and give as good as possible like we've done all season.”
The season run-in begins with a trip this weekend to Sevilla.
“The games are always tough in Seville. I went there with Osasuna and no-one gave us anything. I've been with Atletico Madrid and they have always been very complicated.
“We are looking forward to it and will give everything to win. As I said, we want to finish second and to finishing second we must win all our remaining games and win at the Sanchez Pizjuan.”
The converted full-back was asked of his hopes for returning to the Spain squad after missing out in the last round of World Cup qualifiers.
“What matters most to me now is to do well with the team and hopefully I will get the call from the Coach.
“I was hopeful to be involved last time but it wasn’t to be. Given that, I can not let down the guard and I have to keep working and doing things right to return to the team and hopefully as soon as possible.”
