Figo hopes Mourinho stays

Luis Figo has reflected that ‘everyone hopes Jose Mourinho will continue’ as Coach at Real Madrid next season.

Mourinho has been speculated since the autumn as in agreement with Madrid to end his contract come June, with rumours increasingly linking him with a return to Chelsea as a result.

However, Figo is optimistic for recent reports that he may be looking to stay on at the Santiago Bernabeu for a fourth campaign.

“You have to ask him whether or not he will continue, I do not know the opinion of others, I’m not in the club,” initially answered the retired former Madrid and Barcelona man.

“We have to wait and see what happens, since Madrid are a very big club and are not going to end just because of this. Everyone hopes for him to continue.

“Would I be a Coach? I live too well, in the short-term future I do not see it, although what is clear today in football is not black and white tomorrow.”

The winger was part of the last Madrid side to lift the European Cup and was asked to assess the chances of the current group to pick up La Decima this term.

“I hope that they win, yes. The team has good chances for it and they are in a good moment. The tie against Borussia Dortmund is open, although I believe that Madrid will reach the final.”
