Perez to set election date?

Real Madrid President Florentino Perez is speculated as set to announce the club’s presidential elections after the Champions League semi-final.

Madrid travel out to Borussia Dortmund next Wednesday evening before returning to the Santiago Bernabeu six days later.

El Larguero speculate that Perez will wait until after this two-legged tie to confirm the date that elections for the next President at the club will take place.

It is speculated that voting will be set for the first week of July. Perez is understood to be seeking a second consecutive term in office and a fourth overall at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 66-year-old former politician who is in the construction business, led the club originally from 2000 to 2006, resigning midway through his second term due to criticisms including on transfer policy.

He was re-elected in 2009 standing in that year’s elections as the sole candidate and has since been credited with improving the club’s financial status.
