Puyol back for Bayern?

Carles Puyol is reportedly set to be a surprise inclusion in the Barcelona squad to travel out to Germnay next week.

The centre-back underwent knee surgery during the mid-March international break and was given a recovery period of between six and eight weeks.

However, just 33 days into his recovery, Marca say that the 35-year-old is already training at a level that could satisfy club doctors enough to clear him for inclusion in Barca’s party that travels out next midweek for Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final first leg against Bayern.

Should the defender not be cleared for this clash, then he is seen as almost certainly available for the second leg eight days later at the Camp Nou.

Barca are short at centre-back in Puyol’s absence, due to Javier Mascherano’s knee ligament damage sustained against Paris Saint-Germain.
