Stars including Sergio Aguero, Pablo Aimar, Robinho, Antonio Cassano and Eric Abidal will take part in next summer’s Lionel Messi and Friends friendly series.
The Barcelona forward is continuing an initiative started last summer by arranging a series of summer friendlies between a number of the game’s stars to raise money for the Lionel Messi Foundation.
This year will see Messi and company compete in Colombia on June 29 in a match set between a team of ‘Messi and friends’ versus a team from the rest of the world.
Sports management company Number 5 also report that Messi and Friends II will play a week later in Chicago, whilst another game in between in Peru is also scheduled.
Today has seen a number of players reportedly confirmed for the contest and they include Messi’s compatriots Javier Mascherano, Emiliano Insua, Ricky Alvarez, Martin Demichelis, Pablo Aimar, Sergio Aguero and Agustin Orion.
Meanwhile, the likes of Robinho, Diego Ribas, Antonio Cassano, Pablo Osvaldo, Marco Materazzi, Eric Abidal, Marek Hamsik and Bojan Krkic will all also feature.
A number of Colombian stars have also been listed for the summer friendly, including James Rodriguez, Dorlan Pabon, John Viafara, Mario Yepes, Giovanni Hernandez and Macnelly Torres.
