Mikel San Jose hit out at Cristiano Ronaldo after Real Madrid’s win at Athletic Bilbao, suggesting that the Portuguese is overly focused on histrionics.
Ronaldo, who scored Madrid’s opening two goals in Sunday evening’s 3-0 win at San Mames, clashed with San Jose during the second half, dropping to the ground after the defender appeared to catch his face.
For San Jose [pictured, right], it was an overreaction and one that affects how Ronaldo is perceived in the football world.
“If he devotes himself to only playing football, the football world will have more respect,” the 23-year-old told reporters post match.
“I think it is not just me, I think most of those in football believe it.
“If he devoted himself to playing football and not to other things, he would not be just the best player, but he would also have more respect.”
