UEFA wait on Ramos, Alonso report

UEFA are reportedly waiting on the referee and match delegate’s reports from Real Madrid-Galatasaray before taking action or not on Sergio Ramos and Xabi Alonso.

The duo have aroused suspicion this week for both picking up a third yellow card of the Champions League campaign in the final stages of their team’s 3-0 win over Galatasaray on Wednesday evening.

It is seen that perhaps the duo acted deliberately to induce their respective one-game suspensions to tie in with the second leg quarter-final next week, so as to avoid the risk of suspension in a potential semi-final.

AS report that UEFA are waiting on the reports from the game by the match official, Norwegian Oddar Moen, and the match delegate, Englishman Barry Bright, before assessing the situation.

UEFA have reportedly told AS that they are waiting on the reports before deciding on a course of action, but that it is possible that the Control and Disciplinary Committee at UEFA could take action even if the reports do not arouse suspicion over the players.

Players found guilty of deliberately picking up a yellow or red card are subject to a further two-game ban. Sergio Ballesteros fell foul of this earlier in the season for Levante.
