Xavi Hernandez is reportedly a major doubt for Barcelona’s trip next midweek to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-finals.
The 33-year-old is reported by Mundo Deportivo today as having returned yesterday to Barcelona training suffering from discomfort in the right thigh.
Xavi went out on international duty for Spain’s games with Finland and France already struggling with this muscle injury.
The midfielder originally strained the muscle in February, before re-injuring it when in action for Barca against Milan during their Champions League Last 16 second leg in mid-March.
Whilst sitting out against Finland, Xavi was passed fit by Spanish medical staff last weekend to return to training and he subsequently played the full 90 minutes of Tuesday evening’s World Cup qualifier against France.
However, he is now reportedly out of the weekend game with Celta Vigo, having reported in to Barca medical staff yesterday suffering from discomfort in the same muscle.
He is also seen as a major doubt for the trip next Tuesday to face PSG in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.
Barca are without Pedro Rodriguez through suspension, whilst Jordi Alba’s hamstring strain sustained whilst with Spain also leaves him a doubt for facing the French.
