Spain-France most watched in 20 years

More than half of Spain’s television audience watched the national team’s 1-0 victory over France on Tuesday evening.

La Roja ran out victors at the Stade de France this week in a crucial World Cup qualifier that saw them outright claim top spot from the French.

Mediaset have released television audience figures and report that the game proved a hit with the nation, with an average audience share of 52.5 per cent achieved. This equates to 10,522,000 viewers.

At the peak audience time recorded at the final whistle, as many as 13,497,000 were watching, representing a 62.4 per cent share.

Mediaset say that the figures make this the most watched qualifying match for the Spanish team in the last 20 years.
