Real Betis are reportedly drawing up plans to commit themselves to Coach Pepe Mel with a Diego Simeone-like contract.
Mel has impressed with Betis in their second season back in the Spanish top flight, with the club still in with a chance of European qualification.
Subsequently, handing him a new contract is seen via reports in Spain as one of Betis’ priorities in the coming year, albeit with his current deal still to run on to June 2014.
Betis are said to be looking at Atletico Madrid’s commitment of four years to Diego Simeone as a way forward, and are happy to hand Mel a three-year deal.
Set to be offered to him over the course of next season, it will run until June 2016 or June 2017, depending upon when Mel puts pen to paper.
