‘I voted for Mourinho, but…’

Goran Pandev has corroborated Real Madrid Coach Jose Mourinho’s comments this week that the FIFA Ballon d’Or voting was ‘irregular’.

Mourinho has made the claim this week, suggesting that FIFA were aware of a glitch in their system, which saw Vicente del Bosque selected as Coach of the Year for 2012, ahead of the Portuguese.

Whilst the governing body have since denied Mourinho’s claims, Pandev, who had a vote this year as captain of Macedonia, has backed up his former Inter Coach’s suggestion.

“I voted for Mourinho,” the 29-year-old told La Sexta Deportes this week.

Pandev’s votes were recorded as Del Bosque in first place, Roberto Mancini second and Jurgen Klopp third.

“What happened? I don’t know, here very strange things have happened.

“I told him that I voted for him, but I do not know what happened next.

“He was sad. Weird things happen, but neither Mourinho nor I can change them.”

The Napoli forward also said that he has not reported this to FIFA.
