Diego Simeone was delighted with Atletico Madrid’s performance at La Rosaleda, commenting that they outperformed Malaga.
El Cholo’s side followed up their midweek Copa del Rey semi-final progression over Sevilla with a 0-0 draw away at Malaga on Sunday evening.
“I’m happy with the match. Having played four days ago in an important match, with a lot of pressure and psychological strain, the team has responded now with 90 minutes in this game that they needed to produce to stay in a strong position in the League,” enthused Simeone post-match.
“The team held nothing back, and we had dominated in match situations. We lacked the final pass through on goal, in a 90 minutes in which we were very good.
“Games are won when scoring goals and today we did not have enough to convert. We faced a great opponent who had trained all week for this, they have great players, a great Coach and were playing at home where they tend to produce good matches.
“Despite all this and with us having played the other day, we took to the game very well, we dominated. I think they played when we felt comfortable.
“We played between the lines and won the second balls. We only lacked the final pass. We had a very good game.”
