Sport believe today that Eric Abidal will likely be declared fit for first team selection at Barcelona as soon as this weekend.
The Frenchman has been back in training in recent months after being given the all clear to resume his playing career following a liver transplant underwent last April.
Catalan-based publication Sport are running the line that his recovery is almost complete and that he could be discharged by the club’s medical team this week.
That, it is believed, would free him up for first-team selection in time for the Saturday night visit to the Camp Nou of Sevilla.
Abidal has not played for Barcelona since February 2012, whilst his last professional appearance to date was for France against Germany at the end of that month.
