David Villa was admitted to hospital with kidney stones last night and is now a doubt for Barcelona’s match at the weekend.
The 31-year-old, who has struggled for playing time since recovering to full fitness from a serious leg break in December 2011, scored at the weekend against Getafe in the team’s 6-1 win.
However, he has been dealt a blow once more, after being forced into hospital on Monday evening due to a nephritic colic infection.
Villa will undergo kidney stone treatment in the coming hours, as confirmed by a brief statement released by the club, and is now a doubt for next weekend’s trip to Granada.
