Paciencia departs from Depor

Deportivo are left searching for a third Coach of the season as Domingos Paciencia has resigned, after just six weeks in charge.

The Portuguese tactician replaced Jose Luis Oltra at the turn of the year and was backed in the transfer market with several moves to strengthen the squad.

Even so, the former Braga tactician has struggled to reverse the team’s situation, following up a win and a draw in his first two games with four consecutive defeats.

The weekend’s 3-0 reverse at home to Granada has left the Galicians rooted to the table, six points adrift from safety.

Paciencia took responsibility for that result in Week 23 and requested a meeting with the President Augusto Cesar Lendoiro and the team’s captains Manuel Pablo, Juan Carlos Valeron and Riki to discuss the direction of his work.

Whilst Lendoiro and Valeron both publicly backed the Portuguese, it has been confirmed via a brief statement from the club today that the Coach and President have agreed mutually to cancel his contract.

Lendoiro is reported now as looking for a Coach with experience of La Liga to try and improve Depor’s situation.
