Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has revealed that he would like to play in the Premier League one day.
Los Blancos play Manchester United at Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday, and the Spain international has admitted that he sees England as an attractive place to play, but first he must concentrate on a difficult European clash.
“I was pleased to get United,” he told The Guardian. “They are to the Premier League what Madrid are to La Liga.
“The values, the history. What they represent, the philosophy they transmit. It's similar. Few games have the repercussion of this match.
“And I'd rather play them than a team that's not as big, but comes along and surprises you. Besides, I like English football.
“I've had offers to go to England and Italy, but my Dad told me once – 'If you leave, leave through the front door with your head held high'.
“My dream is to keep playing in Madrid, but it's true that England's attractive.”
The former Sevilla man also commented on how he has patched up his relationship with Barcelona centre-back Gerard Pique for the good of the national team.
“Pique and I have had our differences, but now our relationship is good. I'm not talking about friendship and nor is that vital. It's about professionalism.
“I don't go for a beer with him, but when you are with Spain for maybe three or four weeks, you can overcome issues.
“I grabbed him and we spoke – 'Let's stop being little kids. Both us.”
