‘Barca, Madrid tempting, but…’

Edinson Cavani has reflected that just talking about Real Madrid and Barcelona is exciting, but that he is happy at Napoli.

The in-form Uruguayan striker has been paired with a potential transfer out of the Stadio San Paolo in recent transfer windows despite currently carrying a €63m buyout clause in his contract.

Whilst the 25-year-old has admitted that Spain’s top two are a particular attraction, he has made clear that he is happy to remain with his current Italian employers for now.

“Real Madrid and Barcelona are two great clubs, amongst the strongest in the world, and it is obvious that they can attract,” Cavani told the Gazzetta dello Sport today.

“The tension rises just when you name those two sides. However, I honestly don’t know whether there is the option to join one of those.

“At the moment I have the opportunity to win the Scudetto with Napoli and I’m just concentrating on that aim.

“And I still have four years left on my contract. You never know what will happen in football, but I just work on a day by day basis to get the best.”
