Atleti open to Villa option

Atletico Madrid will reportedly target a move for Barcelona forward David Villa, should Radamel Falcao depart.

Colombian forward Falcao has been linked with a departure from the Vicente Calderon since the end of last season and is widely expected to consider a move away in the summer, with a number of bids anticipated.

Atletico are seen in the Press as already preparing their transfer activity for the summer and are understood today to be considering a move for Barca’s forward Villa, as a potential replacement for Falcao.

Villa has himself been linked with a move since returning to full fitness after a serious leg break suffered in December 2011, but struggling for regular playing time at the Camp Nou.

AS believe that Atleti have already made contact with the player, via sporting director Jose Luiz Perez Caminero two weeks ago, to ask him about his intentions for the future. The club now believe that a move for about €16m in the summer is a possibility.

Los Colchoneros reportedly now have Villa up against Edin Dzeko and Luis Suarez as viable targets to bring in, should Falcao leave.

The January transfer market may have closed, but you can still do deals on Music Magpie. Amongst other things, cash in on selling Xbox 360.
