Raphael Varane admitted that his performance for Real Madrid against Barcelona last night was probably the ‘best match’ he has played for the club.
The French centre-back made his Clasico debut in the first leg of this Copa del Rey semi-final and was a notable performer, also popping up with the equaliser in the final 10 minutes of play.
“I'm very happy with how I played. For me it was incredible and to score a goal is a dream,” enthused the teenager at full-time.
“It is a game I will always remember and I’m just 19. I still cannot believe it. It is the best match I've had at Real Madrid.
“It is not the best result but it leaves the tie open. My teammates congratulated me, I am happy for my performance and now I have to keep giving my best.”
