Neymar: My future? I don’t know…

Neymar has reflected that even he doesn’t know where his future will be beyond the end of his Santos contract in 2014.

The youngster has been presumed as set to join Barcelona at some stage during the next 18 months or at the end of his Santos deal after the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

However, following on from his words last week expressing the possibility of staying on with the Brazilian side, the 20-year-old has made clear – he is still unclear on his future.

“Will I still be with Santos after the World Cup? Even I don’t know that,” he told FIFA’s offical website in an interview published today.

“My contract runs to 2014 but there’s still a long way to go before the World Cup. I don’t know if I’ll renew it or not.

“It’s a personal issue and I’ll have to talk it through with my family and Santos. We’ll definitely speak about it further down the line.

“Is Dani Alves always telling me to sign for Barca? Dani’s always embarrassing me! He’s put me in a tight spot.”

The striker was asked if he agreed with the general assertion that he needs to leave Brazil to develop further as a player.

“No. You can develop and improve your game whether you’re in Brazil or not. Personally I feel I’m becoming a better player and getting more experience as every year goes by.

“Some people say you have to leave to develop but I don’t agree with that.”
